Castell de n'Amer, the squat stone watchtower on the headland at the southern end of Cala Millor, was raised in the closing years of the seventeenth century for a single purpose: to sight corsair sails before they reached the shore. Three centuries later, the same stretch of water is read for different reasons.

Cova des Coloms, the sea cave north of the bay, is the best known of these. Beneath the surface, meadows of Posidonia oceanica carpet the seabed.
